Memories
Encountering life is also about remembering life. Pictures are one way to stay connected to our past adventures and those people we did them with. My friends and I are constantly looking back at each other's pictures for the fun of it. Sometimes I have a lot of pictures from one time either on a trip, at a party, or something similar. It's not always the most convenient thing to scroll through countless unimportant pictures from that trip. So how do we solve this problem? My Solution
As a little girl, I began to print out my favorite pictures and tape them on a page with descriptions or other artistic decorations and calling it a scrapbook. I would be the last person to say how artistic I was then and am now. When it comes to creativity, I am not nearly at the level of some of my peers. What keeps me doing it is not because of my skill but because of the enjoyment that comes with putting pictures together in an organized way so I can easily look back through delightful moments. My Current Work Space
Today my parents have made me an entire scrapbooking center in our basement complete with a desk, drawers, a spinning chair, and a spacious area to roam. While I do not spend much time down there due to cold weather, school, and work, the chances I do get to work in that area are spent in long durations.Get Started
A scrapbook is personal to the person making it. There is no set way it must be done, but there are supplies that can help get someone started. Here are a few:- A Book: this can range in style and design. I like square large books that can fit multiple pictures and leave room for written descriptions. Others might enjoy a small, simple book with intentional slits to slide chosen pictures in. My Nana had countless of these all around her house, and to this day, I still appreciate looking through them.
- Tape
- Pencils, Pens, and other writing materials.
- Pictures: this is a given. I spend a lot of time looking through pictures from my phone, camera, other people's devices, in order to find the best of the best to include in my scrapbook.
